SELECTION CRITERIA FOR DCOs
Doping Control Officers must meet the following criteria to receive certification:
  1. Minimum age of twenty-five years;
  2. Submit to and pass a background investigation;
  3. Participate in an individual or small-group training session for initial certification;
  4. Demonstrate potential to meet or exceed the established proficiency levels as outlined in the DCO Performance Support & Development Program;
  5. Demonstrate ability to follow instructions;
  6. Demonstrate ability to work under demanding conditions;
  7. Demonstrate ability to quickly and effectively solve problems;
  8. Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively;
  9. Ability to act in a respectful and professional demeanor;
  10. Ability to maintain confidential information;
  11. Adhere to the USADA Dress Code Guidelines for Sample Collection Personnel;
  12. Adhere to the DCO Public Relations Guidelines; and
  13. Make USADA aware of any possible conflicts of interest, including involvement in the administration of the sport for which testing is being conducted, or in the personal affairs of or relation to any Athlete that may undergo doping control.
