| Sports and games have been important to men and women all over the world for centuries. So, we took a look at 112 years between 1886 and 1998, of Olympic History. |
| In the beginning of Olympic Games History: |
- Women were not allowed to compete.

- Married women couldn’t watch the Olympic Games.
| Nevertheless, women have set and broken some of the world’s toughest records as athletes in the Olympics. |
| That goes all the way back to the ancient games in Greece. There was just as much incentive to win then as there is now. Athletes used concoctions of mushrooms and plant seeds and ate special diets of things like dried figs thinking they would relax and perform better. |
