DRO SEARCH The Drug Reference Online (DRO) search will classify a drug or a formulation (combination of medications) based on the strictest status of any one ingredient. For example, if one ingredient is prohibited all brands that contain that one ingredient will be presented as prohibited, even if there are other substances in the brand that are permitted. The presentation of search results will also depend on whether the use is to be in-competition or out-of-competition. The search results for the status of a brand will be presented as: Permitted Requires Abbreviated Therapeutic Use Exemption Prohibited Prohibited – Threshold (Prohibited above a certain concentration) The overall status of the brand or substance is presented at the top of the results page. Below the line on the page the status of each active substance is presented. Even though some active substances may be permitted, the overall status at the top of the page applies to the medication. For example, the inhaler "Combivent" contains albuterol and ipratropium. The ipratropium is permitted; however, the albuterol requires an Abbreviated TUE. The status of the "Combivent" will be shown as "requires Abbreviated TUE." NOTE: Individuals who have been diagnosed with a medical condition that requires the use of a Prohibited Substance may complete a Standard Therapeutic Use Exemption form to request an exemption to use the otherwise prohibited substance. The request must be approved by the International Federation or USADA, as appropriate.
